Anton Westerlaken (1955) is Chairman of the Board of the 's
Heeren Loo Zorggroep, an organization for care for the mentally
handicapped. The ’s Heeren Loo Zorggroep covers western, northern and
middle Netherlands. However it operates nationwide for younger people with a
minor mental handicap (’s Heeren Loo Kwadrant). With 9.000 employees
this care provider is the biggest in the country.
He has many other functions within healthcare: He is a member of the Council
for Public Health and Health Care (Raad voor de Volksgezondheid en Zorg)
and chairs the Foundation for
Future Health Scenarios (STG) / Health Management Forum
He also chairs the nationwide Committee on career-disabled people and work.
He is in the supervisory boards of the Netherlands
Institute for Care and Welfare / NIZW and of the Vrije
Universiteit medical centre.
From 1992 until January 1999 Westerlaken was Chair of the National
Federation of Christian Trade Unions (vakcentrale CNV). His Union
activities were started within the management team of the ACP Police Union in
1976.
During this period he studied law, were he got his degree in 1992.
Before that time he was a police officer and before that a bank employee.
